Journal & Press
I’ve been wary to include police blotter items in the print paper, considering it’s semi-monthly and the listings wouldn’t seem all that timely in this digital age.
But with this newsletter, The J&P is essentially a daily paper, so we can start to include them here.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Department sent out a few such items yesterday. Here they are:
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested:
Paul E. Wooddell (45) after a lengthy investigation into allegations of Sexual Abuse of a Child over a period of several years. The investigation determined that Wooddell had Sexual Contact with a child less than thirteen (13) years old for several years. Wooddell was charged with Predatory Sexual Assault of a Child, a Class A-II Felony and Criminal Sexual Act in the 1st Degree, a Class B Felony. Wooddell was arraigned in Washington County Centralized Arraignment and was held without bail and will be arraigned in the Washington County Court at a later time. Anyone having information about Wooddell is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office, Investigation Division.
David J. Lewis (36) for Failure to Properly Register as a Sex Offender Failure to Personally Report, a Class E Felony, and Failure to Properly Register as a Sex Offender, Failure to Provide an Updated Photograph, a Class E Felony. An investigation determined that David J. Lewis had failed to appear for the purpose of providing a current address and failed to provide an updated photograph when required to do so under New York State Law. Lewis was arraigned in Washington County Centralized Arraignment and held without bail.
Craig M. Olden, age 43, of the Town of Fort Edward on charges as they relate to a domestic dispute between Olden and a female who he is familiar with. On July 9th, 2024 Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to 3 Parry Street in the Town of Fort Edward for a reported domestic dispute. It was determined after an investigation that Craig M. Olden attempted to intentionally start a fire within the residence. Five other individuals were present in the residence at the time, including three children under the age of seventeen. No injuries occurred to anyone involved. Olden was arraigned at Centralized Arraignment and remanded to the Washington County Jail.

During an investigation conducted by the Sheriff’s Office it is alleged that Argueta had Sexual Contact and Intercourse with a female who is less than thirteen (13) years old and also had Sexual Contact with a second female victim who is also less than thirteen (13) years old. Argueta was held for arraignment at Washington County Centralized Arraignment.

The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery at Skidmore College announced its annual summer open house, Frances Day, will be on Saturday, July 20, beginning at 2 pm.
The family-friendly event honors the museum’s namesake, Frances Young Tang, Skidmore College Class of ’61, and offers multiple ways for visitors to explore the museum’s stellar program of contemporary art exhibitions and events, with tours, art-making activities, food, music, giveaways and more.
