Pharmacy Opens in Salem Family Health
And 'batty' presentation at Greenwich Library tomorrow
From The Salem Press
Exciting news has been announced for the greater Salem community as Salem Family Health’s Hudson Headwaters Pharmacy at Salem has opened for operation. Salem Family Health, which opened less than a year ago, is located at 1830 County Route 64 in Salem. The pharmacy is open to all who have prescriptions to fill and is not restricted to only those who are patients at Hudson Headwaters’ Salem Family Health.
As required by New York State, the pharmacy must open to begin securing participation with commercial insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. During the current “soft open” phase, the Pharmacy at Salem is self-pay. Medicaid approval is pending and may take up to six months; participation with Medicare and commercial payers should be sooner. Individuals may call the pharmacy for a current list of accepted insurance plans at 518-320-7619.
“As a community health center, providing comprehensive access to health care services is at the heart of our mission. This Pharmacy at Salem will add convenience for Washington County families and support overall community health,” said Tucker Slingerland, M.D., CEO of Hudson Headwaters. “We are pleased to announce the soft launch and look forward to updating the greater Salem community as we work through the required process to secure private and public insurance participation.”
Patients and community members are invited to call 518-320-7619 or stop by the Pharmacy at Salem to learn more and explore options for filling their prescriptions during the soft open phase. Pharmacy hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. The pharmacy is closed for lunch from 12:30 pm to 1 pm daily. Automated phone and website systems are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The pharmacy in Salem is the Network’s second; Hudson Headwaters Pharmacy at Moreau opened in 2024. More info can be found online at HHHNpharmacy.org.
The Pharmacy at Salem is part of the 14,300-square-foot Salem Family Health primary care facility that opened in May 2025. The center includes on-site lab services operated by Glens Falls Hospital and the Stewart’s Shops/Dake Family Teaching Kitchen, a state-of-the-art space offering free community nutrition classes thanks to support from the Mary McClellan Foundation.
Hudson Headwaters is a nonprofit network of 26 community-based primary care health centers serving patients of all ages from Saratoga County to the Canadian border, an area of about 7,900 square miles. The Network’s comprehensive services include primary care, urgent care, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, behavioral health, dentistry and select specialties, along with laboratory and imaging services. For the past twenty years, Hudson Headwaters has depended on the 340B Federal Drug Pricing Program to fulfill its mission by maintaining crucial health care services and responding to the growing needs of our region. A Batty Presentation
Greenwich Free Library invites the public to join Jerry Schneider as he brings the audience into the exotic world of bats at Greenwich Free Library on Wednesday, April 8, at 11:00am.
Did you know that a Little Brown Bat eats up to 1,000 mosquitoes in one night? Attendees will learn how vital bats are for maintaining a healthy environment. Via interactive dialogue and slides, children move beyond old stereotypes to an understanding of the importance of bats for farmers, fruit growers, the rain forest, and us. Learn about echolocation calls, hibernation and migration.
Participants can also make a bat-themed tee-shirt craft. Everyone may bring their light-colored own shirt or may purchase a heavy white cotton tee from the presenter for $5. This presentation is open to all, but registration is required. Visit www.greenwichfreelibrary.org or call 518-692-7157 to register.
